Recognising the scale of the challenge and the opportunity for change, the No Wasted Lives Coalition is an inter-agency effort to promote a coordinated approach to child health and nutrition. We are building on the excellent work already being done, while supporting governments, donors, and NGOs to realise the synergies of cooperation.

By working together, No Wasted Lives is making wasting a political and public health priority, discovering and disseminating effective ways to prevent and treat acute malnutrition, mobilising more money and maximising the effectiveness of current spending.

No Wasted Lives envisions a world where no child suffers or dies from wasting. The Wasting Advocacy Task Team was formed in 2019 to define and enact an advocacy strategy to support this goal.

It aims to ensure that there is not only the political and financial will, but accountability for the commitments already made in order to achieve the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) target to end all forms of malnutrition, which incorporates the World Health Assembly target to reduce and maintain wasting to less than five per cent by 2025.

In 2019, the Wasting Advocacy Task Team is catalysing attention and commitment to prevent and treat wasting at major global and regional events and milestones, leading up to Nutrition for Growth (N4G) in 2020 and beyond.

Task Team members are strategically located within their organisations to create, moderate and disseminate information on wasting.  By assembling a group of senior advocacy and communications leaders to serve on the Wasting Advocacy Task Team, we can leverage a coordinated set of actions to achieve our goals.  The task team taps into existing nutrition and health platforms, networks, and thought leadership avenues to drive wasting-specific actions and advocacy.
